International News: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling from Washington, apologized to Qatar’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani. The apology was for Israel’s recent airstrike in Doha targeting Hamas leaders. The strike killed five people, including the son of senior Hamas leader Khalil al-Hayya and his close aide. Qatar condemned it as a cowardly and unlawful attack.

Trump Expressed His Anger

US President Donald Trump had already expressed his frustration with Netanyahu. In a phone call, he called the strike “not wise” and warned it could destabilize the region. Netanyahu defended his move, saying he had only a short window to act against Hamas officials. However, the US did not accept this justification and remained critical. He argued that Hamas leaders were moving frequently, making it difficult to catch them. Israeli intelligence, he said, had confirmed their location only for a few hours. Still, Washington believed such risky action endangered broader Middle East peace efforts.

Qatar’s Strong Reaction

Qatar’s foreign ministry stated the strike violated international law. Officials accused Israel of deliberately hitting residential areas in Doha where Hamas political bureau members were living. The statement described the strike as an attack on Qatar’s sovereignty and dignity. Doha also warned that such operations could damage ongoing ceasefire negotiations. Regional allies of Qatar, including Turkey, echoed the same criticism against Israel.

Hamas Blamed Both Nations

Hamas blamed both Israel and the US for the strike. The group declared the assassination attempt had failed, stressing it would not change their negotiating position in ceasefire talks.
In its statement, Hamas said the blood of martyrs would only strengthen resistance. Leaders of the group accused America of providing political cover for Israel’s aggression. They insisted their fighters would continue to defend Gaza regardless of threats.

Heated Words Exchanged

Despite apologizing, Netanyahu later warned Qatar to expel or punish Hamas leaders. Doha dismissed his remarks as reckless and irresponsible, further straining diplomatic relations in the region. Qatar said no country had the right to dictate its internal decisions. Experts noted this exchange worsened mistrust between Doha and Tel Aviv. Many analysts feared that if tensions rose further, peace mediation efforts could collapse completely.
